Bur Dubai means “mainland Dubai” in Arabic. Bur Dubai is a historical area on the western bank of the Dubai Creek. Previously, an Abra (traditional wooden boat) was used to transport people from one side to the other, but the two neighborhoods (Bur Dubai and Deira) are now linked by the Floating Bridge, Al Maktoum Bridge, and Al Shindagha Tunnel. Al Fahidi Historical District/Neighbourhood, also known as Bastakiya Dubai, is located in this community.

Dubai Museum, The Ruler’s Court, Al Fahidi Historical District/Neighbourhood, and Al Shindagha Historical District are among the historical landmarks in this community. The Grand Mosque, which has the city’s highest tower, and the blue-tiled Iranian Mosque are both located in the neighborhood.
